-----Hot off the wire:

Rusty Middleton, author of, What Lies Beneath, for the Texas Observer, has written a sequel of sorts titled, War of the Wells, for the current, April 4th issue.

Middleton reports on the failure of the Texas Railroad Commission to protect the public from out-of-control natural gas production. Rusty spent a couple of days in Fort Worth last January to see, up close, what urban gas drilling looks like.

EVEN if you have already signed away your mineral rights, you will want to read this report, :

-----IMPORTANT! Vote April 8th!

Do something positive to help clean up the gas drilling industry:

******Vote for, Dale Henry, Tuesday, April 8, in Democratic Primary Runoff Election for Texas Railroad Commission. ********

From War of the Wells, by Rusty Middleton-
Dale Henry describes the commission as the "most dysfunctional organization I have ever known."

This agency is doing more harm to the state of Texas than all other agencies combined. Dale Henry can steer us out of the ditch.

-----Do you know the way to (Drill) Santa Fe?

If natural gas producers are willing to lay waste to the Land of Enchantment, how do think they feel about Texas? Here in the Land of the Barnett Shale, we seem to have traded our souls and our quality of life for a bucket full of green frog-skins.

The citizens of Santa Fe County, New Mexico have used their muscle to get county commissioners to temporarily suspend new drilling and applications. We could learn a lot form them. Read more here:

-----Txsharon of Wise County, digging deep for YOU.

TXsharon, of the Bluedaze blogsite, has been on a tear lately. Hell, for several years now she has been on a tear, delivering timely information (and opinion) that often slips through the cracks at the major media outlets. Her reporting on shenanigans in the Barnett Shale are pure gold. Sharon is a recipient of the Texas Progressive Alliance 2007 Silver Star Award for Texan of the Year. Check out her website and see why:
